Announcement
Dear CH203 and CH209,
I hope that your June break is starting to be productive. "A" Levels is approaching (HOOOOWWW????).
This week's online review would be:
(1) Read through all the bonding posts. They can be found here.
(2) Watch the different videos to construct energy cycles, Born Haber Cycle (and energy level diagram) and oxidation number method. Go to the links, it will bring you to the summary page for the videos that I have.
What I will be expecting you to finish when I see you in July.
(1) Set A, B and C. - This includes all the topic. It is a compilation of Prelim papers.
(2) Physical Chemistry Package - This contains just physical chemistry questions.
For (2), please attempt on bonding, energetics and kinetics questions. If you have time, it would be excellent if you attempt electrochemistry and equilibrium. I will be posting materials on this blog, but it will not be so soon.
If you have any question, please drop me a message in the chatbox.
Regards
Mr Kwok

Annoucement
Dear CH304,
Please read ALL the post on Chemical bonding and they can be found here.
Please read through ALL the answers to the homework question on bonding and they can be found here.
In addition, I would like to clarify how to draw the hydrogen bonding which cause ethanoic acid to dimerise in benzene. I think my answers in tutorial was alittle sloppy hence please use this one.

Lastly, please encourage your classmates to read all these as part of the preparations - Let's keep our content updated and sharpen our skills to answer questions! And yes, this is your assignment this week.
Let's cheer for Ben and Xing Ting this Friday!
*Update 16th May: There is a new picture added and some re-organisation of the bonding posts.*

Dear CH304 aka SCones,
After looking through your weekend assignment, I am pleased to thank you for allowing me to clarify a content information found on this blog.
I have previously mentioned that the s orbital is smaller than the p orbital. After reading your homework and searching a few textbooks, I realised that it is inaccurate to say so (in fact only wikipedia thinks that the s orbital is smaller). Hence, I would like to thank you for this clarification.
Please read through the edited atomic structure article. In addition, you will be pleased to read more about chemical bonding over here.
Regards
A delighted Mr Kwok

Dear 2CH203,
A gentle reminder. There is SPA assessment next week! Do remember to read through about the calculations and ponder over relevant points which makes an experiment flawed.
Thank you for the Valentine's Day gift. I am now busy studying, so I can empathise with you. =)

Announcement to CH203 (09)
UPDATES: (Saturday, 31st Jan 2009)
I realise that the poll question was not sufficiently specific, hence I have edited it. The refined question is: "How many unsaturated compounds share the same molecular formula C3H4BrCl?".
My sincere apology to the 4 respondents on the poll. Could you re-check your working and answer the amended poll. Please help to spread the word to the class.
Thank you!
Regards
Mr Kwok

1) Click here for the post on homework.
2) Click here for the post regarding last week's poll answer.
3) Click here for the post on Chemical Kinetics - Collision Theory.
4) Click here for the post on Chemical Kinetics - Factors affecting rate of reaction.
A new poll is out. This time round, it is a smaller molecule and definitely as challenging as the last poll. =P
Thank you for your participation. If you have comments on the various content entries, do feel free to leave them in the relevant posts.

Welcome and Poll time!
Hi everyone,
Welcome to my chemistry blog. This will be my avenue to conduct teaching and askng of questions (aka none worksheet homework, we will save the earth!). It will also serve to be a platform for you to raise questions about chemistry.
A gentle word of caution. This blog is indeed only chemistry specific. You may use the tagboard to pose question and/or have discussions that are chemistry related.
Thank you so much for taking your time view this page. Do come by regularly as there will be a constant stream of polls and thinking questions (Remember them? They are now online instead.) for your to do.
In the spirit of having that stream of polls, the first one is already up. However, I think blogger.com is having some problems with the poll function. Do come back at a later time to see if it works. =)
Regards
